Researching cufflinks, at least for this post, has mainly come from patent research. There are also vintage/antique ads available online which include photos of the products, most times. If you research vintage newspaper archives online and type in "cuff links" or "cufflinks", some ads of the day will pop up. It was researching one of these newspaper ads that I saw an ad for "cufflinks for both men and women". So you never know where these snippets of info will pop up. There was also a book on the market titled "Antique Cufflinks 1860 - 1960" I believe it was was by Guy-David Lambrechts. This was called one of the best research books out there though we have never had, or read, the book so I cannot personally recommend it. Hope some of this helps you on your way. It's an interesting subject with very little info from most books I have ordered. It appears this jewelry is mired in what appears to be the "Dark Ages of cufflinks". I wish you a great journey!Vintage Helphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03727858829178898973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3821837671905719621.post-57244111313048003132023-03-03T01:31:34.302-08:002023-03-03T01:31:34.302-08:00Hello, I am a archaeology student researching a cu...Hello, I am a archaeology student researching a cufflink with a swivel back. I am trying to date the artefact for further research and I was wondering where you get your knowledge from and if you have sources you could recommend.
Thank you in advance
lyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10887809527657373067noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3821837671905719621.post-28505108691266281242021-11-05T16:48:37.213-07:002021-11-05T16:48:37.213-07:00The very first AB stones came out in the 1950'...The very first AB stones came out in the 1950's but only in a golden color. If the cufflinks were of a different color-typically multi color-then they would be 1960's. AB stones were produced in the reds, or pinks, or greens, or blues, etc. from the 1960's on. The bullet style from the 1930's resurfaced again in the 1960's. So with the bullet styling and the AB stones, I would surmise the 1960's. Maker marks can sometimes be found on the inside of the shaft that runs between the top and bullet toggle. Without a stamp, it would be hard to track down the maker. Hope this helps you date your cuff links :) Vintage Helphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03727858829178898973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3821837671905719621.post-59339094098900576402021-11-04T19:20:04.082-07:002021-11-04T19:20:04.082-07:00I have a pair of bullet toggles with the " cu...I have a pair of bullet toggles with the " cut in circle's" gold tone with square cuffs with a AB stone I the center. You may even find a match if you search under "single vintage cufflink lots". I do like the retractable style just for its uniqueness alone.
Vintage Helphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03727858829178898973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3821837671905719621.post-51196779764353388532021-01-25T11:07:59.053-08:002021-01-25T11:07:59.053-08:00Interesting article.
